Praised for his “shimmeringly youthful timbre” (Voix des Arts), Tenor Kameron Alston is from Arlington, Texas. Kameron is currently pursuing a Professional Artist Certificate at the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute studying with Dr. Marilyn Taylor. Additionally, he recently received his Masters of Music from the A.J. Fletcher Opera Institute and his Bachelors of Music from Baylor University where he studied under Dr. Robert Best.
While pursuing his masters Kameron was seen in several shows including Carlo in Linda di Chamounix, Bonario in Volpone, Torquemada in L’heure Espagnol, Eduardo in Le Cinesi and Menico in Un avvertimento ai gelosi. Further, during this time Kameron made his professional debut with Piedmont Opera in the role of Count Barigoule in Viardot’s Cinderella, as well as in their production of Gianni Schicchi as Gherardo. In the summer of 2022 Kameron was also selected to be an Apprentice Artist at Central City Opera where he covered the role of Fabrizio in The Light in the Piazza.
During his time in the Baylor Opera Theater he was afforded the opportunity to perform multiple roles including, Arnalta/Nutrice in L’incoronazione di Poppea, Boy one in Trouble in Tahiti, Mr. Erlanson in A Little Night Music, Il Podesta in La finta giardiniera, and Anselmo in Man of La Mancha. Additionally, he is an alum of multiple Young Artist Programs such as Music on Site, Chicago Summer Opera, Spotlight on Opera, and Opera in the Ozarks, where he sang the roles of King Kaspar in Amal and the Night Visitors, Don Basilio/ Don Curzio from Le nozze di Figaro, Frederic from Pirates of Penzance and Un Venditore Ambulante from La boheme, as well as Geppetto from Pinocchio The Opera and Anther Villager in Pagliacci.
In addition to performing opera, Kameron is also frequently involved doing concert work, competitions, and musical theater. He has sung many Major Works which include, the Brahms Requiem, the Faure Requiem, Mahler 2, and Beethoven 9. Additionally, he has been a featured tenor soloist in the Howells Requiem as well as in selections from the Messiah. In the competition circuit, Kameron has competed in multiple district and regional NATS competitions where he has been frequently named a finalist in his category, as well as in the MTNA Young Artist Voice competition where he was named Runner-up in the Texas State Division. Kameron also enjoys performing in the musical theater genre, and in the past few years has been involved in several masterclasses geared toward the cross-over singer, and played the role of Alan in Bare: A Pop Opera with Theater Uncovered.
